PROFILE:
Brazil is the fourth largest country in the world and the single largest Country in South America. In fact, its covers almost half of the subcontinent Of South America and is larger than the continental United States.
With over 160 million people, it has the seventh largest population in the world.
Brazil's Atlantic coast covers more than 5,000 miles along its eastern border, Creating some of the most beautiful beaches on earth.
The climate varies from arid to tropical rainforest of the northern Amazon jungle and the tropical eastern coastal beaches.
Rainy seasons from January to April in the north . April to July in the northeast December to March in the Rio/Sao Paulo areas.
Health:
There are no health requirements to entry into Brazil. Yellow Fever, Typhoid, Polio and Malaria vaccination is advised.
You are advised to have full medical insurance coverage. Please note that if you are entering Brazil via Peru, Ecuador or Colombia, you will be required to provide an update yellow fever vaccination certificate for immigration purposes. Avoid eating and drinking local products from street vendors and restaurants .
Drink only bottled water at all times.
Currency:
The Brazilian currency is the REAL; 100 centavos = 1 real. Bank bills are in denominations of 100, 50, 10, 5, 2, 1; coins are 1.00 real; 50 centavos, 25 centavos, 10 centavos, 5 centavos and 1 centavo.
Travellers checks and credit cards are accepted in the majority of hotels, shops and restaurants.
Language:
The official language is Portuguese. Some English is spoken in the main cities, hotels And restaurants.
