PROFILE:
Peru occupies the west central area of South America on the shores of the Pacific Ocean.
It is the third largest country on the continent, covering 1'285,215.6 km2 (496221.51mi)
Peru is divided into three geographic regions:
COAST:
A warm climate along the coastline. Region bordered by the Pacific ocean with desert areas, beautiful beaches and fertile valleys.
HIGHLANDS/ SIERRAS: Region dominated by the Andean range, with two well defined seasons: the dry season (May-October), with sunny days, cold nights and scant rainfall – ideal time to visit the Andes; and the rain season (December-Marhc).
JUNGLE OR AMAZONIA: Region of tropical forest corresponding to the Peruvian Amazon.
POPULATION – LANGUAGE AND CURRENCY:
Peru has a population of approximately 27 million. Politically is divided into 25 regions and Lima city is the capital of the country.
The country's official language is Spanish, although, Quechua and Aymara languages are also recognized by the Peruvian State.
The Peruvian currency is the Nuevo Sol (S/.); circulation is in coins of 5, 10, 20, and 50 centimos, and notes in denominations of 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 Nuevos Soles.
Most shops and hotels accept US Dollars and Euros at the daily exchange rate.
Major credit cards are also accepted: American Express, Dinners, Master Card and Visa.
ELECTRIC POWER:
220 volts. 110 volts power is available in most four and five-star hotels.
PASSPORT AND TOURIST VISAS:
A valid passport is required to enter Peru.
Citizens of most American and Western European countries do not require a Visa.
The maximum authorized stay is 90 days.

Lima
"CITY OF KINGS"
Was founded in 1535 by the conquistador Francisco Pizarro. In 1988 ,UNESCO declared it a World Cultural Heritage site for its colonial architecture.
The Main Square (Plaza Mayor) house the Government Palace, the City Hall, the Cathedral and the Archbishop's house these building are of great architectural richness.. During the night this zone show special lighting to highlight the architectural characteristics of these buildings.

Arequipa & The Colca Canyon
Arequipa, Peru's second-important city, located at 2,335 meters (7,659 feet).
It is also known as "The White City", because many of its churches and colonial mansions are built from the sillar white volcanic stone. Three volcanoes rise above Arequipa, including the majestic Misti,
